June 29, 2005 | The Wrath of Rothken

Longtime tech lawyer Ira Rothken sued MasterCard's data processing firm, CardSystems Solutions yesterday in California, alleging the company failed to protect card holders' data and asking that the company notify customers if their data has been compromised.

MasterCard and CardSystems Solutions currently are the data leak kings, having possibly exposed 40 million people's financial data.

I sure wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of a Rothken lawsuit.

The final price tag may not exceed CardSystem's credit limit, but I bet the final bill will shock them.

News.com (who Rothken sued (and possibly still is) for displaying gambling ads) has more.

A copy of the lawsuit can be found here (.pdf).
